Taste the tang.

Skittles maker Mars, Inc. shocked the internet with news of the latest taste being added to the rainbow — Mustard flavor.

Candy and condiment are being combined — in partnership with French’s — to honor National Mustard Day on Aug. 5.

“Skittles is always looking to inspire moments of everyday happiness and deliver unexpected ways for fans to experience the brand,” Ro Cheng, Marketing Director at Mars, said in an emailed statement to The Post.

“That’s why we’ve teamed up with French’s to create the first-of-its-kind [Skittle] that combines their tangy mustard flavor with our iconic chewy texture to deliver this unique summer treat for National Mustard Day.”

Mars, Inc. and French’s are partnering on the tangy celebration in honor of National Mustard Day on August 5.

Curious New Yorkers will be able to taste the latest addition to the rainbow to celebrate the yellow holiday.

But the not-so-delicious news left a somewhat sour taste online, where consumers gagged at the thought of sampling the savory candy. .

“Mustard flavored Skittles? Um gross,” cringed one Twitter user.

“Mustard flavored skittles?? Oh hell no, Jail!!” exclaimed another.

“Pretty sure this is one of the signs of the apocalypse,” someone else snarked.

Despite the brands’ excitement for the collaboration, it left the internet’s stomach churning.

Hot dog with skittles on top

Some eager taste testers wondered if the mustard-flavored Skittles could be used on hot dogs.

But a few brave souls are clamoring for the yellow Skittle substitute — with some wondering if it might even taste good as a hot dog topping.

“The collab we all needed in our lives,” another cheered.

Hyped to try these!!” someone else wrote.

Still others had a laugh at the fuss over the obvious publicity stunt.

The government told us aliens exist and we’re still more disturbed by mustard skittles,” one Twitter user mused.

For New Yorkers who dare, the “Mustard Mobile” — a bus custom-designed for the special occasion — will be stationed at Hudson River Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Skittles balanced atop finger

The candy concoction is balancing the two contrasting flavor profiles in honor of the condiment’s big day.

This isn’t the first bizarre brainchild from French’s — their wacky food creations have become an annual occurrence, in celebration of the manufacturer’s favorite holiday.

In 2022, the McCormick & Company brand debuted mustard-glazed donuts in partnership with New York City’s Dough Doughnuts.

Two years prior, the brand whipped up a batch of mustard ice cream with frozen treat brand Coolhaus.

“From Mustard Ice Cream to last year’s viral Mustard Donuts, this year marks the fifth time French’s has gone all out with unique, flavorful innovations to celebrate National Mustard Day,” Valda Coryat, the North America Vice President of Marketing for McCormick & Company, said in a statement.

“With the yellow holiday landing on August 5th, we knew we had to outdo ourselves.”
