The MTA’s much-derided congestion pricing plan is officially set to go into effect on June 30, the transit agency officially announced Friday.
The plan will make drivers pay $15 a day to enter Manhattan below 61st Street, with larger vehicles paying more.
The plan, ostensibly meant to reduce vehicle traffic in Manhattan, could also generate over a billion dollars in much-needed revenue to patch up the MTA’s crumbling system.
There are several political and legal challenges to congestion pricing, however, that could see implementation delayed.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
