A trio of sickos has been charged with conspiring to create and distribute twisted videos of sadistic violence against monkeys, federal prosecutors said.
Giancarlo Morelli of New Jersey, Nicholas T. Dryden of Cincinnati, and a third defendant whose name is redacted in the indictment, were nabbed this month after communicating via private online groups and one-on-one chats dedicated to monkey torture and mutilation videos in March and April 2023, according to prosecutors.
They also are accused of selling and distributing the videos, made in Indonesia, per the indictment.
Dryden is charged with creating so-called “animal crushing” videos, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio said.
“Animal crushing,” which some find sexually arousing, is a term that comes from women in stilettos stomping on helpless animals.
Morelli funneled money through Dryden, 27, who then paid a child in Indonesia to commit the requested acts on video.
The indictment says Morelli sent Dryden 28 payments of $40 to $379 each for overt acts on monkeys, according to the June 7 indictment.
The videos ranged from just seconds to 42 minutes.
In his communications with the kid in Indonesia, Dryden allegedly texted, “Get the smallest and healthiest [baby monkey] and when you get it, let me know. Customers have been waiting for too long, we have to please them.”
Another alleged text said: “So, this is the best video that you have ever made. I don’t care. Go ahead and kill it. I’ll buy another one tomorrow.”
If convicted of conspiracy, the defendants could serve a maximum of five years in prison. For creation and distribution of animal crush videos, they could get up to seven years.
Morelli’s attorney didn’t respond to a request for comment. It wasn’t clear who represents Dryden.
