Michigan cops discovered that busting an auto thief was just child’s play after a 10-year-old boy led them on a high-speed chase while driving a stolen SUV.

The incident took place on May 27, when police dispatchers in Saginaw County, Michigan got a call from OnStar, General Motors’ in-vehicle emergency service.

The call reported that a 2017 Buick Encore had been stolen from a home in Buena Vista Township, The Detroit News reported.

The Buick was traveling at high rates of speed on southbound I-75, The Michigan State Police said.

MSP Lt. Kimberly Vetter told the outlet Mlive.com that several passing motorists called 911 saying a child was spotted behind the wheel and was driving in a reckless manner.

Troopers tracked down the SUV near the Birch Run exit and tried to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle’s pint-sized driver refused to pull over, State Police said.

OnStar then remotely disabled the Buick and it bumped into a guardrail.

Police tried to apprehend the 10-year-old driver but he wouldn’t stop.

At that point, the tenacious youngster climbed out of the Buick and tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

Dashboard camera video obtained by Fox 2 Detroit from the State Police shows the SUV swerving wildly across highway lanes before coming to an abrupt stop after lightly grazing a guardrail.

The recording cuts off before the diminutive driver scrambles out of the front passenger’s door.

The car’s OnStar system eventually stopped the vehicle and moved it into the guardrail.

According to State Police, the 10-year-old, who stands at under 5 feet, said he had stolen the Buick because he wanted to drive to Detroit to be with his mother.

The grade schooler apparently had been staying with relatives at the time of the SUV heist.

No one was injured as a result of the not-so-grand theft auto, and the Buick sustained only minor damage.

The homesick boy was arrested and taken to the Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center.

It was not immediately known if the 10-year-old would face any criminal charges. His name has not been released because of his age.
