Missouri Rep. Ben Baker’s daughter and son-in-law were killed in a gang attack during a missionary trip in Haiti, he announced Friday.
“My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ve never felt this kind of pain,” the Republican lawmaker wrote on Facebook early Friday.
Baker’s daughter, Natalie, and her husband, Davy Lloyd, died when they were “attacked by gangs” on Thursday evening, Baker claimed.
“They went to Heaven together. Please pray for my family we desperately need strength. And please pray for the Lloyd family as well. I have no other words for now,” the grieving father added.
Baker’s announcement was reshared by conservative Christian singer Sean Feucht, who told his fans that Natalie and her husband “were martyred for their faith in Jesus Christ.”
In March, the US State Department issued a travel advisory urging Americans not to travel to Haiti due to its “unpredictable and dangerous” security conditions.
It was not immediately clear whether or not Natalie and Davy Lloyd went to Haiti after the warning was issued.
