More On:

Tom Cruise

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is finally coming to digital platforms this week, about three months after the film opened in theaters.

Tom Cruise’s most recent action blockbuster wasn’t quite the box office hit that Paramount hoped it would be. It didn’t get close to Top Gun Maverick‘s whopping $1.49 billion global box office, but it did still manage to make $567 million worldwide. With an estimated budget of $291 million, that’s not a failure—but again, it’s also not the slam dunk Paramount was hoping for.

Perhaps the movie will fare better for the studio online. Yet despite the financial disappoint, Mission: Impossible 7 waited an unusually long three months before hitting digital platforms. That may have been the norm in pre-COVID times, but these days the vast majority of studio films are being pushed to online retailers just over a month after opening in theaters. Maybe you can thank Tom Cruise for preserving the sanctity of movie theaters.

But now fans who waited will finally be able to watch the new Mission: Impossible movie online. Read on to find out what you need to know about the Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning digital release date, and when to expect to see Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning streaming on Paramount+.

Beginning on Tuesday, October 10, Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning will be available to buy and rent digitally on Amazon PrimeGoogle PlayApple TVVudu, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime costs $19.99 to preorder to buy.

The digital release of Mission Impossible 7 will also include bonus content, including a commentary with director Christopher McQuarrie and editor Eddie Hamilton, a behind the scene look at the epic car chase in Italy, deleted action sequences, and never before scene footage of Tom Cruise driving off that freakin’ cliff.

Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning will likely be on Paramount Plus early next year. That said, there is not yet a Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Paramount Plus release date, and Paramount has not had a consistent streaming release strategy, especially when it comes to the Tom Cruise movies.

Other Paramount 2023 releases, like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, began streaming on Paramount+ about a month and a half after the movies opened in theaters. However, it’s taken much longer for Mission: Impossible to come to digital than those films—about three months after it opened in theaters in July.

Last year’s Top Gun Maverick, another big Paramount release starring Tom Cruise, was released in theaters on May 23, released on digital three months later on August 23, and began streaming on Paramount+ about four months after that, on December 22. If Mission Impossible 7 follows the same release pattern, you can expect Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One to be streaming on Paramount+ in February 2024.

That’s a long time to wait, so if you want to see Tom Cruise hang off of things right now, you can buy Mission Impossible 7 on digital platforms tomorrow.
