There’s buzz about Mike McDaniel’s evolution in Miami, but it has nothing to do with football.
The Dolphins head coach was sporting a different look when he met with the media before joint training camp practice with the Buccaneers in Tampa on Wednesday.
McDaniel — who wore clear glasses and had his hair styled in a slicked over side part last season — donned tinted sunglasses and a shaggier hairdo.
His brown curly hair hung over his forehead and his beard was not as closely cropped as he’d previously worn it.
The 41-year-old coach also appeared slimmer in a navy blue zip jacket with a Dolphins logo.
It was only a matter of time before the internet weighed in on McDaniel’s presence at the press conference.
“If the city of Miami was a person Mike McDaniel is becoming it more and more everyday he spends there,” one person wrote on X.
“Mike McDaniel look like he hit Miami exactly once (1x) for spring break and had his whole life changed LMAO,” another added.
Someone else joked McDaniel went from looking like a “Best Buy assistant manager” when he got to Miami, to a “South Beach cocaine kingpin.”
“My man looks like he belongs in Miami every season,” one person said.
McDaniel did not discuss his look with reporters.
He’s focused on building off an 11-6 campaign, in which the Dolphins ranked first in the NFL in offensive yards with 401.3.
The Dolphins practiced with the Bucs before their preseason finale on Friday.
Miami’s season opener is at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 8.
