Michelle Yeoh is set to return for a brand new Netflix original series, The Brothers Sun, which has dropped a riveting official teaser trailer which has also announced the premiere date. You can watch the clip above.

The Taiwanese family action drama will premiere on Thursday, January 4, 2024 on Netflix.

According to TVLine, the eight-episode series features an all-Asian writers room and cast. Set in Los Angeles and Taiwan, the series follows Taipei gangster Charles Sun (Justin Chien), a Taipei gangster who is known for his ruthless killing methods. When his father is shot by a mysterious assassin, Charles must go to L.A. to protect his mother, Ellen (Yeoh), and his younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li), who’s been completely in the dark about his family until now.

“But as Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance,” reads the synopsis, “Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all.”

Highdee Kuan also stars as Alexis, a driven and ambitious assistant DA, as well as Joon Lee as TK, an aspiring gangster/Bruce’s best friend since childhood. Alice Hewkin, Jon Xue Zhang, Jenny Yang, Madison Hu and Rodney To are also recurring in the show.

Brad Falchuk (American Horror Story, Glee) serves as showrunner for the series, which was co-created by Byron Wu. In addition to Falchuk and Wu, Mikkel Bondesen and director Kevin Tancharoen executive produce.
