Better Call Saul star Michael Mando has been fired from Apple TV+’s crime drama series Sinking Spring after an on-set incident involving a cast member.

Wagner Moura (Narcos) has been tapped to replace him, starring opposite Brian Tyree Henry.

The eight-episode series hails from Top Gun: Maverick writer Peter Craig and is directed/executive produced by Ridley Scott via his Scott Free Productions. Apple Studios is the main studio attached.

Based on Dennis Tafoya’s book “Dope Thief,” Sinking Spring is set in Philadelphia and follows long-time friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside. Little do they know, their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard.

Moura will play Manny Cespedes, a good-hearted friend of Ray’s (Henry), who he first met when they did time together in the Youth Authority.

Craig also executive produces and directs one episode. Henry, David W. Zucker, Jordan Sheehan and Clayton Krueger also executive produce. Tafoya serves as a consulting producer.

Moura recently starred opposite Elisabeth Moss in the Apple TV+ series Shining Girls.
