The Mets travel to face the surging Phillies on Sunday.
Heading into their matchup Saturday, Philadelphia had won seven of 10 games, while the struggling Mets were just 3-7 in their past 10.
On the mound for the Phillies will be Zack Wheeler (6-4, 3.48 ERA).
The veteran righty has been rolling recently, allowing just two runs in his past three starts (19 ¹/₃ innings).
Overall, Wheeler has allowed one run or fewer in four of his past five starts. Wheeler has lost four straight against the Mets, however, with the Phillies outscored 21-6 in those games.
The Mets will counter with Carlos Carrasco (2-3, 6.34 ERA).
Carrasco is coming off his worst outing of the season, allowing six runs in just three innings against the Cardinals.
The Mets have lost three straight with Carrasco on the mound, but he pitched well in his one outing versus Philadelphia this season, allowing just one run over six innings in a 4-1 Mets win.
On paper, these are two teams going in different directions.
The Mets have owned this series of late, however, going 18-4 the past 22 games.
The Amazin’ had success against the former Met Wheeler, and Carrasco pitched well in three of his past five starts. I’ll call for the Mets’ dominance over Philly to continue on Sunday.
