NextImg:Mets vs. Nationals prediction: MLB odds, picks, best bets for Saturday

The Mets are money at home, but let’s not talk about their road stats.

Carlos Mendoza’s group turns to their rookie ace, Nolan McLean, for Saturday’s matchup with the Washington Nationals.

McLean is 12.1 innings away from losing his rookie eligibility for the 2026 season. I absolutely think that team President David Stearns cares about this.

In fact, there’s reason to believe that the Mets held McLean in Triple-A so long to preserve his rookie status for next year.

McLean’s under-recorded outs prop is not yet posted on sportsbooks at the time of writing, but I would not expect him to record more than 18 outs, even against a weak opponent like the Nationals.

On the other end of the matchup is Cade Cavalli, who has a 4.76 ERA this season and allowing 1.36 home runs per nine innings.

Washington is in the middle of a total overhaul of their team, which has scored just 4.23 runs per game this season — the sixth worst in all of baseball.

The Nationals just aren’t talented enough at this juncture to keep up with the a Mets team that is 47-30 at home.

A few bets worth targeting are the Mets -1.5 against the spread, under 3.5 total runs for Washington, and the under on McLean’s total outs recorded.

For now, we target the Mets -1.5.

THE PLAY: Mets -1.5 (-114, FanDuel)
