Noteworthy items during the Mets’ spring training practice on Thursday in Port St. Lucie:

Batting lefty, Francisco Lindor smacked what would have been an opposite-field double down the left-field line in a live batting practice session against Adrian Houser.

After a round of batting practice for Francisco Álvarez, new hitting coach (and last season’s bench coach) Eric Chavez sought out Álvarez and spoke with the young catcher for several minutes.

Starling Marte signed autographs and took pictures with fans for about 20 minutes before trying to return to batting practice.

Marte left the fans for a moment, heard several shouts for additional last-second autographs, then returned to the group for a few extra minutes of signing and posing.

The Mets will conduct a final full-squad workout before their Grapefruit League opener Saturday against the Cardinals in Port St. Lucie.
