NextImg:Mets have new-look patch on their uniforms

The Mets’ uniforms featured a new look Tuesday that is presumably Steve Cohen-approved.

The Mets owner and many fans have shared a distaste for the patches that are on the left sleeves of their jerseys.

The patches are an advertisement for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and originally were large with red lettering on a white background.

The uniforms the Mets wore Tuesday, in their 7-0 loss to the Nationals, featured a smaller ad that had blue stitching inside of an orange border — Mets colors.

Amid an outcry from Mets fans, who complained as soon as the patches were debuted on Opening Day, Cohen vowed to tweak them.

“They’re Phillies colors,” Cohen had said, adding he and NewYork-Presbyterian chief executive officer Steve Corwin agreed to revise the look.

The Mets placed righty Edwin Uceta on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Sunday, with a left ankle sprain.

The move cleared the way for Jose Butto, who required a corresponding IL stint to be eligible to be called back up, to be summoned in time to start Tuesday.

Showalter said he anticipated Uceta would need the minimum 15 days before returning.

“It’s another challenge, but it kind of worked out,” Showalter said of the timing of the injury, which Showalter said occurred while Uceta was working out after Sunday’s loss in San Francisco.

Brandon Nimmo (1-for-3 with a walk) has reached base two or more times in 15 games this season, tied for the second-most in the majors.

Francisco Alvarez started for a third time in four games at catcher and went 1-for-3 with an infield single and two strikeouts.

“He’s done well defensively. I think his game has calmed down a bit,” Showalter said of Alvarez, who was on the field four-and-a-half hours before first pitch working on a pop-up drill.
