Francisco Alvarez left Tuesday’s game against the Yankees after being hit in the right hand by a pitch in the top of the ninth.

Alvarez swung at the Albert Abreu pitch that hit him, striking out on the play, and he was immediately tended to by the training staff, appearing to be in significant pain.

He was removed from the game for the bottom of the ninth, replaced by Omar Narvaez.

The play came immediately after Abreu also drilled Mark Vientos in the hand with a pitch.

Alvarez has been one of the few bright spots for an underachieving Mets team that has fallen far short of expectations.
