The Mets’ farm system may soon lead baseball in pedigree.
The Mets — who already acquired Luisangel Acuña, the brother of Braves superstar Ronald at the trade deadline — reportedly soon will bring in the brother of Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr., too.
According to Metsmerized, the Mets are expected to sign Vladi Miguel Guerrero during the 2024 international free-agency period, which begins in January.
Vladi is a 17-year-old out of the Dominican Republic, just like his slugging brother and Hall of Fame father.
Unlike the rest of his heavy-hitting family (including Pablo, a prospect with the Rangers), Vladi Miguel is a lefty hitter.
The Mets have not confirmed the expected signing, though there are several videos online of Vladi Miguel wearing Mets gear.
If Acuña and Guerrero grow to be a fraction of the players their brothers are, the Mets’ future would look bright.
