NextImg:Mets bring back ex-Yankee Luke Voit to add another DH option

The Mets are bringing back a familiar face — and another cost-effective DH option — for some additional power depth.

Luke Voit, who played 37 games for the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate last year, has agreed to rejoin the club on a minor league contract, The Post’s Mike Puma reports.

The 33-year-old, who played parts of four seasons with the Yankees from 2018-21, slashed .264/.415/.643 with 14 home runs and 35 RBIs with Triple-A Syracuse in 2023.

The Mets signed the right-handed slugger to a minors deal last June after he was released by the Brewers, with whom he failed to hit a home run in 74 plate appearances.

He was then cut by the Mets in August.

Voit hit 68 home runs in 281 regular-season games for the Yankees and led the majors with 22 home runs during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

The Yankees traded Voit to the Padres in 2022, and San Diego traded him to the Nationals later that year.

The reunion with Voit comes days after the Mets agreed to a one-year split contract with left-handed hitter Ji-Man Choi.

Choi, 32, split last season with the Pirates and Padres, hitting .163 with six home runs in 39 total games.

Choi had a brief stint with the Brewers in 2018 under new Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns and also played six games for the Yankees in 2017.

His best season came with the Rays in 2019, when he hit 19 home runs with 63 RBIs and slashed .261/.363/.459.

The Mets have 24-year-old Mark Vientos as a right-handed DH option, and DJ Stewart, 30, as a lefty option.
