The Mets have averted disaster with Brett Baty’s injury.
The team said Wednesday that the third base prospect, who left Triple-A Syracuse’s game on Tuesday after three innings, has right thumb inflammation and is day to day after undergoing imaging.
Baty, 23, was shaking his hand after taking a swing in the third inning.
He finished the at-bat but was pulled from the game before the top of the fourth.
Last season, 11 games into his MLB career, Baty had surgery to repair a torn UCL in his right thumb.
Baty had a strong showing in spring training but was sent to Triple-A Syracuse to begin the 2023 season.
He’s 6-for-15 with two home runs, five RBIs, two steals and five runs through four games.

Luis Guillorme is starting at third base against the Brewers Wednesday afternoon for the second time in three days.
