The Mets signed a pair of players with MLB experience, but who didn’t appear in the majors last season, to minor league contracts Tuesday.
Yolmer Sanchez, an infielder who’s spent parts of eight seasons in the majors — most recently in 2022 with the Mets — was picked up for some infield depth, and they also added catcher Austin Allen.
The 31-year-old spent all of last season with Atlanta’s Triple-A affiliate.
He last played regularly in the majors in 2019 with the White Sox.
Sanchez has primarily played second and third base and has a career OPS of .654.
Allen has played in 57 games over parts of four major league seasons.
The 30-year-old was with Miami’s Triple-A affiliate a year ago.
Both players will have an invitation to major league camp.
