Four days before the trade deadline, David Stearns made a move to fortify the Mets’ razor-thin bullpen.

The team’s general manager made a trade with the Mariners for right-handed reliever Ryne Stanek, according to The Post’s Jon Heyman. 

The Mets sent outfield prospect Rhylan Thomas — their No. 30-ranked prospect, per MLB pipeline — to Seattle in return.

The red-hot Mets are in need of quality bullpen arms, particularly <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/07/26/sports/mets-place-dedniel-nunez-on-il-give-up-on-adrian-houser-in-shakeup/">with Dedniel Nunez going on the 15-day injured list</a> on Friday. 

The hard-throwing Stanek has a 4.38 ERA with the Mariners and 44 strikeouts in 39 innings.
