Melania Trump is letting the tailoring do the talking.
On Thursday, the first lady joined a meeting with the White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Education wearing a beige linen pinstriped power suit — a structured, subtle post-Labor Day style choice.
The linen double-breasted pantsuit — worn with a crisp white T-shirt, ivory belt and sky-high stiletto pumps — was designed by the Italian label Max Mara, one she has worn before on several occasions.
In 2024, the Slovenian-born ex-model donned a Max Mara jumpsuit and a $15,000 Hermès Kelly bag for her first appearance after Donald Trump’s “hush money” conviction. And during President Trump’s first term, she opted for a pale blue wrap coat from the brand.

Pinstripes are a staple for the 55-year-old. She was spotted in a Ralph Lauren pinstriped suit when she and Donald hosted then-prime minister Justin Trudeau back in 2017.
And just this summer, she attended the US Army’s 250th anniversary parade in a beige pinstriped double-breasted skirt suit by Adam Lippes, who also designed her 2025 inauguration coat.
Her pinstripe revival comes amid a steady rhythm of part-time residency at the White House, as she splits time between DC, Mar-a-Lago and New York.
“Melania Trump has taken the reins for exactly how she’ll be first lady — on her terms and on her terms alone,” a White House source told Page Six around the time of the inauguration, underscoring her selective approach to both appearances and messaging.
Melania’s wardrobe has often courted controversy, particularly the “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” Zara jacket in 2018 worn during a visit to a migrant children’s detention center. The look drew national ire and led to a viral fundraising effort benefiting immigrant families.
Her Max Mara pinstripes, by contrast, are unlikely to ignite backlash but still communicate power, polish and the carefully controlled aesthetic that has defined her public image.
