The self-described “Super Mayor” of a small Illinois town is making waves for her wild antics and alleged obscene spending of taxpayer dollars — with some insisting her escapades warrant a real-life “Parks and Recreation” TV show.
Tiffany Henyard, a Democrat who currently serves as mayor of the Chicago suburb of Dolton, has drawn massive heat for allegedly splashing taxpayer cash on everything from a first class flight to Las Vegas to over-the-top security and personalized billboards.
Henyard, who is also the Thornton Township Supervisor, has been blasted for bringing DJs to town meetings, filming music videos with cops and using a professional stylist to get glam for community events.
Meanwhile, the unfazed mayor’s Instagram and TikTok pages are also filled with influencer-style videos of her outfits, as well as posts where she often boasts that “God chose me.”
In her Instagram bio, Henyard describes herself as “The Most Powerful Woman in The Southland of Chicago.”
Her brazen “soap opera” level antics have garnered widespread attention on social media in recent weeks — with many claiming her behavior is almost too funny to be believed.
“There’s a real life Parks and Rec situation going on in a small village outside of Chicago thanks to this mayor, Tiffany Henyard,” Barstool Sports’ Jack Mac declared in a TikTok video.
“The adventures of Tiffany Henyard make Eric Adams and Byron Brown look like [insert your favorite mayor here],” another X user tweeted.
The backlash against Henyard started ramping up late last year when local outlets Fox 32 and WGN9 began probing her spending sprees.
According to copies of the township’s credit card statements obtained by WGN9, taxpayers forked out $3,741 for a roundtrip flight to Vegas last May when she and other officials attended a shopping center conference.
Other charges from the trip included more than $8,400 on hotels, $587 at Ruth’s Chris Steak House and nearly $400 Hot N’ Juicy Crawfish.
When she was asked about the trip by a local reporter in a now-viral video, Henyard blankly responded: “Any other questions?”
There are also multiple billboards erected throughout the town of roughly 20,000 people — where the median yearly salary is $24,000 — brandishing Henyard’s face and name that are paid for by the city, Fox 32 reported.
Despite the heavy self-promotion, the billboards advertise for “Fresh Produce,” “Senior Services,” and “General Assistance.”
It wasn’t immediately clear if Henyard — who was elected in 2021 — pays out of pocket for the make-up artist and stylist she enlists that is heavily featured on her social media pages.
In addition for being ripped over her spending, Henyard also faced criticism over a controversial salary ordinance she successfully proposed for Thornton Township, which critics claim was a strategy to discourage anyone from running against her.
Henyard, who collectively earns a $285,000 salary from her two positions, proposed a nearly 90% cut to her salary if someone else wins her spot in the next election, Fox 32 reported. If Henyard is reelected, however, her salary would remain the same.
The ordinance, which would also lower the salaries for other non-incumbent elected officials in the township, passed in December.
Henyard didn’t immediately respond to The Post about the backlash and her spending habits.
The mayor has, however, hit back in various posts on social media in recent weeks, including one post where she wrote: “There’s no such thing as a ‘one sided story.’ Know the facts!!”
