Nearly 50 percent of Big Apple residents are giving Mayor Eric Adams a thumbs after sixteen months in office, a new analysis shows.

Forty-nine percent of registered voters in the city said they have a favorable opinion of Hizzoner when asked by Siena College pollsters, in a new study released Tuesday.

That’s compared to 35 percent who said they hold an unfavorable opinion of Adams and 16 percent who said they had no opinion.

But Black voters gave the moderate Democrat the highest marks out of any ethnicity polled – with a 59 percent approval to 16 percent disapproval rating.

Latinos approved by a 45 percent to 35 percent disapproval rating and Whites gave him the lowest score by a 29 percent approval to 39 percent disapproval margin.

“New Yorkers strongly approve of the job Mayor Adams is doing because he has driven down crime, raised employment, and handled multiple crises with the strong leadership needed to navigate challenging times,” said Evan Thies, Adams’ political adviser.

Meanwhile, statewide, Adams managed to beat out Gov. Kathy Hochul, whose favorability fell to its “worst-ever” rating after a tough start to 2023 that included a late budget — and New Yorkers are of mixed minds when it comes to whether she is a “strong” or “effective” leader, according to a new Siena College poll.

The Adams poll was conducted between May 7 and 11 among 810 total registered voters — 39 percent of those individuals being in the Big Apple — with a plus, minus margin of error of 4.1 percent.
