Netflix released a special preview of what to expect in Buying Beverly Hills Season 2, in which celebrity real estate agent Mauricio Umansky and his daughters strike out on their own business venture after starring alongside Kyle Richards in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The Buying Beverly Hills sneak peek shows Umansky coming clean about the state of his marriage to Richards for the very first time. In the brief clip, Umansky reveals to his daughters Alexia, Farrah, and Sophia, that he and Richards are separating and plan to date other people.
“I had an amazing 26 years with your mom, an amazing 26 years,” he starts. “I wanted to do everything possible to save it.”
“Your mom came to me and she talked to me and she said, ‘I need space,'” he explains. “She said to me, ‘The rules are you go out, you date, you do whatever it is you want to do. I’m not going to be asking you what you’re doing, I don’t want you to be asking me what I’m doing. Like we are separated.'”
His daughters become emotional as they react to the rather unexpected news.
“It’s so weird to even be having this conversation,” Farrah says. “I definitely could not have predicted where my life was going to be one year ago, in all aspects.”
Sophia wipes away her tears as she adds, “We only found out there was any issues just a few months ago and now it’s just like things change so quickly.”
Umansky watches on as his daughters cry over the news. He adds that he also felt “sorry” after Alexia says, “I’m sorry we’re all going through this. I’m sorry for all of us. I’m sorry for you guys. I’m sorry for you.”
The emotional moment is our first look at how Umansky and Richards revealed their separation to their daughters. But the couple have been open about their marital problems on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where they’ve even been seeing a couples’ therapist.
“All I’m saying is that this is helping us. I think we’re in a way better place. A way better place, and we’ve been married for 27 years and we’ve never had so much going on in our lives,” Umansky shared on the show. “It’s become hard. Right? It’s become really hard.”
However, it does not seem like it’s done much to change Richards’ stance on their marriage.
“I’m not gonna stay in a situation that I’m not happy in,” she said. “The things that I wouldn’t want my daughters to accept, I’m not going to accept for myself.”
Buying Beverly Hills premieres on Netflix on March 22.
But if you can’t wait for the new season, you can catch Richards and Umansky open up to their kids in the season finale for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which airs this Wednesday on Bravo.
