Matthew and Kelly Stafford’s wedding was a day they’ll forever remember, but according to “The Morning After” podcast host, it wasn’t without some shoe-centric drama.

When reflecting on the 2015 nuptials during Tuesday’s installment of her podcast, Kelly revealed how guests who attended the couple’s afterparty in Atlanta were treated to Nike kicks — with the accidental exception of one of Stafford’s former Lions teammates.

“We had a Nike bar cause Matthew was sponsored by Nike at this point, and we made sure we got everyone’s shoe sizes when they sent in their RSVPs so we had shoes for everyone. Just to give your feet a second after you’ve been on them all night,” Kelly recalled.

But as the afterparty got underway, they realized one pair was unaccounted for.

“We missed one pair of shoes in the Nike bar, and that one pair was [former Lions wide receiver] Calvin Johnson’s. We didn’t have his shoes,” Kelly said with a laugh.

“I looked at Matthew and I was like, ‘This is your fault.'”

Johnson, 37, spent the entirety of his NFL career with the Lions beginning in 2007.

Two years later, Detroit selected Stafford, 35, with the first overall pick in the 2009 draft.

Johnson called it a career in 2016 after nine seasons in the league, while Stafford remained with the Lions until January 2021, when he was traded to the Rams.

Kelly recalled elsewhere on the podcast how the quarterback committed a separate footwear faux pas.

“I’ll never forget because my mom came into my room day of our wedding, she was like, ‘Hey, hon,’ and I was like, ‘What’s wrong,’ and she’s like, ‘Nothing’s wrong, you don’t by any chance have Matthew’s shoes in your bag, do you?’ And I was like, ‘No,’ and she was like, ‘OK, alright.’ If you know Atlanta, traffic is awful, we were already downtown and we did not live close to downtown, so they had to drive all the way back to get Matthew’s f–king shoes that he forgot and try to get back for the wedding in time, which they did, but that was the biggest, I think hiccup, was Matthew,” she said.

Stafford and Kelly celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary last month.

The couple is now proud parents to four daughters: 6-year-old twins Chandler and Sawyer, Hunter, 4, and Tyler, 2.

Stafford is readying for his third season in Los Angeles.

The Rams, who won the Super Bowl in 2022, are coming off of a disappointing 5-12 season in which several stars, including Stafford, were sidelined with injuries.

Stafford signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the organization in March 2022.
