NextImg:Matt Rempe’s return means someone’s going to drop from the Rangers’ bottom six

I want to make it clear — crystal — that I would not endorse making Will Cuylle a healthy scratch for Tuesday’s match against the Jets at the Garden in order to accommodate Matt Rempe’s return to the action after having done his time for the crime of elbowing Jonas Siegenthaler in the face.

The only reason I mentioned Cuylle as a possibility to come out in Monday’s column is that, barring unforeseen developments, he and Jonny Brodzinski are the only logical bottom-six alternatives to make room for Rempe.

Alex Wennberg isn’t an option, neither is Kaapo Kakko and neither Jimmy Vesey nor Barclay Goodrow is coming out of the lineup.

As Brodzinski had been scratched the two games before Rempe incurred his four-game sentence, it would have seemed automatic he would sub out for No. 73 against the Jets. But that was before Sunday’s 5-2 victory over the Islanders in which Brodzinski’s speed on the left side of the third line with Wennberg and Kakko changed the unit’s dynamic after head coach Peter Laviolette had flipped him with Cuylle.
