America’s iconic hospitality queen Martha Stewart has finally offloaded her West Village triplex — albeit for significantly less than she once hoped.
However, Stewart didn’t live there.
Her daughter Alexis did. She’s a mother of two and a former SiriusXM host who made an appearance on “The Apprentice” in the mid-2000s — and was previously reported as being the pad’s owner — but only her 81-year-old mother’s signature appeared on the deed, according to Crain’s.
The palatial Manhattan abode, at the Richard Meier-designed 165 Charles St. that’s right on the West Side Highway, first listed in 2019 asking an ambitious $53 million.
Over four years later, the three-story, 9,500-square-foot residence has at last found a buyer, but the new owner forked over just $31 million for the pad, or 42% under ask, Crain’s reported.
As well, the address listed on the seller’s paperwork is for Martha’s Westchester County farm.
There had always been speculation that mom may have significantly helped pay for the property.
“Alexis earns her own money yakking it up on Sirius Satellite Radio…we find it impossible to believe she’s pulling down enough paper to acquire $35,000,000 in real estate in one fell swoop,” wrote Mark David on his now-defunct site Real Estalker in 2007, a year after Alexis began acquiring the four units which compose the six-bedroom condo.
Of course, even at barely half its initial listing price, the final price tag is still jaw-dropping — but then, so is the unit.
It has 600 square feet of outdoor space, sweeping views of the Hudson River and a walk-in refrigerator.
The primary suite composes an entire floor and boasts a gym.
Despite the luxury, when Alexis listed the units in 2019 she explained that there was one thing her unit lacked: A yard.
Richard Ziegelasch, the broker, had no comment regarding the sale.
Representatives for Martha Stewart did not return a request for comment.
