NextImg:Mark Zuckerberg’s empty censorship apology: Letters to the Editor — Aug. 30, 2024

The Issue: Mark Zuckerberg’s apology for bowing to Biden administration pressure to censor Meta users.

It’s nice to see Mark Zuckerberg finally realized he was being used as a tool by the left (“Zuck Comes Clean,” Editorial, Aug. 28).

He confirmed what most of us suspected all along.

Democrats and the Biden administration pressured Meta to use its vast social-media reach to gaslight the American people about everything from COVID to the 2020 presidential election.

This Orwellian nightmare, in part, enabled four years of Democratic overreach and incompetence that has wrecked our economy, destroyed our border and weakened national security.

Mark Zuckerberg is a smart guy.

Let’s hope he’s smart enough to continue to see through the lies the Dems have been serving up for years.

Even if this means getting kicked out of the “cool” kids group of American elites.

Democracy requires that the public be properly informed, yet it is patently clear that the Biden-Harris government sought to misinform the American public because it did not want them to know the truth.

This is shameful.

One example of this disregard for the First Amendment was the censorship of this newspaper, which exposed the Hunter Biden laptop story.

This censorship hurt our country.

All those involved in censoring free speech need to be exposed and punished, with no exceptions.

Zuckerberg has finally admitted that his platform was pressured by the government to suppress articles, including the one from The Post on the Hunter Biden laptop story.

How does this not count as election interference?

Zuckerberg should be brought back in front of Congress to answer questions under oath.

Not only did he essentially work to influence an election, but he prevented Americans from accessing important information regarding COVID from well-known and highly regarded doctors.

Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg came out on Tuesday and said the quiet part out loud, confirming what many intelligent and informed Americans already suspected, that the Justice Department used its power to pressure Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter) and other social-media companies to suppress accurate information about COVID — as well reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop, including stifling the New York Post’s account.

It was and remains a brazen display of corrupt federal power being used to influence an election for Democrats’ advantage.

Don’t be fooled by Zuckerberg’s sudden pang of guilt.

Like everything else he does, this is all designed to forward Zuckerberg’s agenda.

Isn’t it funny?

I am constantly bombarded with ads, columns, tweets and messages denouncing former President Donald Trump as a “dictator” an “extremist” and “enemy of democracy.”

Yet Trump peacefully reconciles with his rivals and makes collegiate, bipartisan gestures to share his platform with Robert Kennedy Jr., while the Democratic Party either leans on media outlets to suppress negative news, as with Zuckerberg’s admission that the Biden administration has interfered with Facebook, or tries to have political opponents barred from the ballots, as with the party’s attempts to block the Cornel West and Jill Stein campaigns in multiple states.

For co-called “saviors of the republic,” Democrats’ behavior is very weird.

This apology signals a Trump victory in November (“Don’s book rips Marky malarkey,” Aug. 29).

Zuckerberg is admitting to censorship because he must be seeing the number of Facebook users that are positive toward Trump.

Ever the politico, Zuckerberg will want Meta to be on the right side when the election is over — and possibly avoid prosecution for all the reckless things he and his company did.
