Live with Kelly and Mark‘s Season 38 premiere not only featured fun new additions to the show’s “Stump Mark” segment, but also an exciting announcement from Mark Consuelos, himself.
Once Tuesday’s episode kicked off, Consuelos and Kelly Ripa gave viewers a recap of how they spent their time off from their daytime talk show. While Consuelos said it was “a nice, long vacation,” he shared that he “had to work in the first part of it.”
“Acting is my passion. I got to do a few episodes on the show called 9-1-1,” he revealed.
While he said he “can’t talk about any of the details,” he did tease some intel about his character on the hit ABC procedural.
“I play a tech billionaire. His name is Trip. And he experiences an emergency situation, so he needs to call 9-1-1,” he added. “That’s all I can say.”
Ripa jokingly asked her husband and co-host is the full name of his tech billionaire role is “Trip Trusk,” alluding to Elon Musk.
“No. Trip Mezos? No,” Consuelos quipped, referencing Jeff Bezos.

Consuelos noted that 9-1-1 Season 9 premieres on Oct. 9, highlighting that the series stars Angela Bassett, which excited Ripa.
“I know. That was my whole thing. I was like, ‘You get in there and be friends with Angela Bassett so we can all have dinner!'” she teased.
Consuelos concluded, “It was a great time. A really, really great time.”
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, 9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear described Consuelos’ character as “a Musk-ish, Bezos-ish billionaire,” who in the Season 9 premiere, “was swallowed by a whale, and a much larger adventure will ensue from that.” Minear said inspiration for the storyline was taken from a recent video that went viral, telling EW, “Just google ‘kayaker gets swallowed by whale.’ You’ll find it.”
Not only does the flagship 9-1-1 series return on Oct. 9, but the franchise’s new spin-off, 9-1-1: Nashville, also makes its series debut, featuring a stacked cast led by Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, LeAnn Rimes, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
