NextImg:Mark Consuelos Stunned After Kelly Ripa Claims She Likes “Big Men Who Are Flexible” On ‘Live’: “Do You?”

More On:

Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been married for 27 years, but sometimes one might need a little reassurance from the other.

This morning on Live with Kelly and Mark, the co-host couple talked ice hockey in the wake of New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and Consuelos revealed he had seen the Rangers’ ice hockey nets stored backstage at Madison Square Garden. Explaining that there’s “a lot of chips and little nicks” on them, which Ripa said were likely “from the pucks,” Consuelos highlighted how large the nets are in real life.

“It looks smaller on TV, but it’s big!” he shared. “And the goaltenders are big guys! They like tall guys. Yeah, a lot of padding.”

Ripa, who noted hockey goalies can do splits, chimed in, “I like big men who are flexible! That, to me, is so interesting.”

Consuelos, however, was caught off guard.

“Do you?” the 5’8 short king asked Ripa, who clarified that she likes them “from a visual standpoint.”

Consuelos then asked, “Not in real life? Like, that’s not something you crave?”

Ripa reassured her husband, “In real life, I like average-sized men who are totally inflexible.”

Amid bursts of laughter, Consuelos confirmed, “I’m so inflexible!” as Ripa reiterated that her statement was “from a TV standpoint.”

“From seeing these guys, you know they’re big, you know their stats, and then they go into a split to stop [the puck],” she said. “Like a cheerleader! Incredible!”

This prompted Consuelos to bring up a “recurring nightmare” of his in which he is “playing professional hockey, and [he’s] the goal keeper.”

“Isn’t that weird?” he asked. “Because I know that I can’t skate, so it doesn’t make sense for me to be able to skate and play.”

However, he and Ripa noted that his “long arms” and “good hand-eye coordination” would serve as assets in the sport, which prompted Consuelos to reveal that his position while playing street hockey as a kid was often goalie.
