Mark Consuelos caught some laughs on Monday’s Live with Kelly and Mark.

As Consuelos brought up the “protein-heavy diet” craze, Kelly Ripa reminded him that he once helped her try out this diet ahead of the Oscars.

“Right before the Academy Awards, I was having trouble getting my dress zipped up the side. It was a side zip, the dress,” she explained. “And I kept getting zipped into the dress. I don’t know if any women here have experienced having your side skin zipped into your dress. It is a punishing thing.”

Consuelos chimed in with the male perspective, telling viewers, “Sometimes guys get their front skin zipped into their stuff.”

“You’ll never forget that,” he added. “Only once.”

Ripa appeared at a loss for words, as Consuelos and the audience burst into laughter.

“Sorry,” Consuelos apologized.

Ripa replied, “I forget where I was going with this.”

Consuelos helped Ripa get back on track, as she eventually recalled that he put her on a “high, high-protein diet.”

“It’s the only time I’ve listened to Mark about my diet,” she admitted. “Because I typically don’t like to do what you’re doing. I just find you’re way too disciplined. I can’t live that way. But for like 72 hours, I can live like Mark Consuelos for 72 hours.”

While Ripa “didn’t love” the diet, noting that she is “not big [on] animal protein,” the diet proved to be successful.

“But I ate exactly how you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up. No side skin. And I looked super fit. Super, super fit. So thank you for that,” she told Consuelos, who relished in her gratitude.

“Oh, wow! he quipped. “What day is it?… June 9, 9:14 a.m. Mark that.”

Ripa teased, “Yeah, you were right just that one time.”
