Kelly Ripa may have been missing from Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday, but that didn’t stop Mark Consuelos from sharing a sparkly story about the two of them.
Guest co-host Deja Vu dished on the trend of women covering themselves in glitter in order to fend off “cheating men” on a night out.
“They’re saying, ‘Look, if I have glitter all over me, he’s not going to touch me because he’s going to get busted!'” she explained.
After Deja expressed her support for glitter, noting that she likes to “radiate and sparkle,” Consuelos was reminded of a time that glitter nearly got him in trouble with Ripa.
“You know, if Kelly was here, she would tell this story, so I feel comfortable telling it,” he explained, as he launched into an anecdote of when he took Ripa to a nightclub “on the edge of the water” in Italy.
As he described the “stucco ceilings” inside the Italian disco, he highlighted that “it was glittery.”
“So the lights would sparkle,” he remembered. “And I guess I put my hand on it. I was sweaty, it was hot. It was 80 degrees… And I guess I put some on my face. I touched my face.”
Consuelos said that Ripa went to the bathroom, and had questions for him upon her return after finding him with a sparkly face.
“She comes out and she looks at me, and she’s like, ‘Where did you put your face?'” he said.
Deja exclaimed, “Exactly! Exactly.”
Consuelos continued, “And I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ And she said, ‘Well, you have glitter all over your face. Where have you been putting your face?'”
Deja chimed back in, “Come on Kelly with the questions,” as Consuelos quipped, “I was like, if you think I can do that in the three-and-a-half minutes that you were in the bathroom and came out…”
Deja teased, “Stranger things have happened, Mark.”
Eventually Consuelos said that his wife “loves” glitter, though he hates it, as he will “see it” long after it was first applied. He lamented, “I see it in the cracks of wherever it fell. It doesn’t go away. It multiplies.”
Deja concluded, “Listen, I say radiate and sparkle.”
