Marcus Stroman is ready to help the Yankees.
The right-hander opened up about his new team on his Instagram Story on Tuesday after he agreed to a two-year deal, $37 million deal last Thursday.
Stroman, 32, said he is amped to get things going in The Bronx after his All-Star 2023 campaign with the Cubs.
“Can’t wait to put on THE PINSTRIPES and feel the energy in Yankee Stadium,” he wrote in his Instagram post. “Honored to put on the uniform. Very very honored.
“Will compete to the highest degree for you all. The authentic confidence and swagger I play with is a direct result to growing up in New York culture.”
The Long Island native has plenty of New York experience after he was traded from the Blue Jays to the Mets in 2019, posting a 3.21 ERA with 218 strikeouts over 238 2/3 innings in Queens.
But shortly after that deal that shipped him to the Mets, there was some beef between Stroman and the Yankees.
It all seemingly started after general manager Brian Cashman told Yahoo Sports that the Yankees didn’t make a move for the hurler because he was not a “difference-maker.”
Then, in 2020, Stroman wrote on X — then Twitter — that he didn’t have much confidence in the Yankees’ pitching staff.
“Besides Cole, there’s no current Yankee pitcher who will be anywhere in my league over the next 5-7 years. Their pitching always folds in the end,” he wrote in a since-deleted post.
“That lineup and payroll should be winning World Series’ left and right…yet they’re in a drought. Lol.”
But if there was any lingering animosity between Stroman and the Yankees, he seemed to be over it as he concluded his Tuesday post.
“Truly can’t wait to feel the buzz and vibe of the crowd on start day,” Stroman added. “That’s the s–t we dream about as kids. I get chills thinking of these dreams turn to reality! @yankees.”
The two-time All-Star concluded his two-year Chicago stint with a 3.73 ERA and 1.202 WHIP over 275 1/3 innings.
He also thanked his old team in a separate post.
“Loved every moment being there. Pitching at Wrigley was electric each and every time. Very thankful to have competed for one of the most historic franchises,” he wrote on Instagram.
