A man took to social media to rant he “will not be participating in Secret Santa” at work anymore after receiving a gift he felt was pathetic.
The disgruntled Secret Santa, who didn’t identify himself, posted a video on TikTok to show viewers the present he felt his gift-giver didn’t put enough thought into.
“I will not be participating in Secret Santa anymore at any job, any workplace ever again,” he starts off the video while holding a blue gift box in his lap.
The worker explained how everyone at his job was suppose to bring a gift, adding that he, himself, made sure to do his part by “going all out” for the person he was assigned to.
“…I put Christmas lights on the bag, Santa paper, I had all kind of stocking stuffers in the bag, I put bells in the bag,” he’s says. “The lady that I got I went above and beyond.”
“It’s Christmas time, some people don’t even get a gift and Secret Santa sometimes, that person may just get that one gift so I may [sic] sure I always go up and beyond,” the man continues.
He continues the story, recalling the day everyone at work was supposed to exchange their gifts and how he was excited to see what he got.
Everyone was instructed to “put their bags down on the shelves” before a woman, who he doesn’t identify, informs him he wouldn’t be getting a gift that day because his Secret Santa didn’t come in to work.
However, he said she told him he would receive his gift another day.
That’s when then annoyed worker revealed to viewers the gift he eventually received, and why it made him upset.
“I get to work today, I get my gift y’all, she hands me my gift, I open it up and this is what I have, now mind you the limit was $25,” he says while unveiling a box full of assorted mini chocolates.
“Now I know Reeses, Hersey’s, and Mr. GoodBar can be kind of on the expensive side but I said $25? Well maybe, she spent a little bit of money on the bow and the box because the box is kind of fancy,” the worker says before signing off on the video.
Viewers in the comment section, as well, were extremely off put by the cheap candy gift box — agreeing that the worker should feel disappointed.
“I would leave it in a public spot in the office with a note that says “FREE SNACKS,” a commenter said.
“Dump the reception desk candy bowl into a box and called it a day,” one replier jokingly wrote.
Some viewers gave their own not-so-great experiences when it came to Secret Santa at work.
“I’ll never forget at previous job I never even got my present. My Secret Santa kept saying he was bringing it, then dude quit like a week later,” an unhappy user replied.
“Our Secret Santa was supposed to be $25-$50 and my boss got my name and she gave me a trinket the ones people sell on the corner for $.25 for the blind — so I took her gift????????,” one naughty replier claimed.
