A man was stabbed on the mezzanine of the 42nd Street-Eighth Avenue subway station Saturday afternoon, police said.

The incident unfolded just before 4 p.m. when the victim, 36, was hurt by a woman he appeared to know who cut him with a sharp object, according to authorities.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was expected to survive.

The assailant ran, the NYPD said.

A large area of the busy station was cordoned off with police tape Saturday as officers stood guard, video posted to Twitter shows.
