During her recent visit to Today With Jenna & Friends, Malin Akerman got the chance to answer the question at the top of everyone’s mind after watching her steamy new Netflix drama, The Hunting Wives: Will there be a Season 2?

Unfortunately for fans such as Today‘s Jenna Bush Hager, Akerman did not have good news to share just yet. But she did have a plan B just in case.

“We honestly don’t know!” Akerman said. “I wish I was here with better news. But I feel like we all know that there’s gonna be a second season without confirming.”

She continued, “We’re hoping, fingers crossed. But if Netflix doesn’t take it, I mean we’ll shop it over at Amazon, maybe. Someone’s gotta take it!”

Based on the 2021 novel by May Cobb, The Hunting Wives is a gripping thriller about a woman (Brittany Snow) who moves from Boston to Texas where she meets a mysterious socialite (Akerman) who leads a clique of housewives who seem to be hiding deadly secrets.

On Today, Bush Hager appeared surprised to learn that Netflix has yet to renew the hit show for a second season. She even suggested Akerman shop the show over at NBC’s own streaming platform, Peacock.

“Hey Netflix, listen to that!” Bush Hager said. “Hey, what about Peacock? Peacock feels like it’ll be a nice home.”

Akerman seemed intent on getting the show picked up – even if it means moving to another streaming platform.

“Listen, anywhere! We’ll take it. But we just want a second season,” she said. She later called the streamer out directly, imploring them to renew the show. “Netflix come on, just do it ! It’s gonna be great!”

She later invited Bush Hager to join the cast in her native state of Texas when they begin filming Season 2. “Will you come on set?” Akerman asked, before adding, “Maybe you should be one of the hunting wives!”

When Bush Hager admitted that she doesn’t “know how to hunt,” Akerman suggested that skill wasn’t particularly necessary for the show.

“We don’t really hunt that much, as you know,” Akerman joked with a laugh.

Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
