Allow Mac Jones to re-introduce himself.
When opening up about some of his favorite pastimes this week in a TikTok video for his new Jaguars team, the ex-Patriots quarterback appeared to shade New England as he discussed his rapping talents.
āI donāt really have too many,ā Jones began when asked about his hobbies. āI like to golf a little bit. I like to go fishing. I like to be on the beach. I like to do a little bit of rapping.ā
Jones then erupted with laughter as the clip continued and said, āI got a couple of songs, but nobody knows about it, so, Iām letting the world know now that Iām not in New England.ā
A former first-round pick out of Alabama, Jones arrived in New England in 2021 and enjoyed a Pro Bowl campaign during his rookie season, in which the Patriots finished 10-7 and reached the playoffs.
Things quickly spiraled in Jonesā sophomore season, when the Jacksonville native struggled as the Patriots adapted to a new offense under Matt Patricia and Joe Judge, who replaced longtime coordinator Josh McDaniels.
The quarterback was often captured losing his cool on game days, much to the dismay of notable Patriots alum like Vince Wilfork and Julian Edelman.
Though Bill OāBrien headed the Patriotsā offense last season, Jones was benched throughout games in 2023 before backup quarterback Bailey Zappe took the keys for good late in the year.
New England underwent a massive overhaul to start the year, with longtime head coach Bill Belichick parting ways with the team after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl wins.
Jerod Mayo was named his successor and speculation began mounting as to what would be next for Jones.
The quarterback was officially traded to the Jaguars in March, a move Jones described as āthe mutual parting of ways.ā
āI have all the respect in the world for those guys up there, theyāre my first team, drafted me in the first round, canāt thank them enough,āĀ Jones said at last monthās introductory press conference. āObviously, we kind of just decided the mutual parting of ways was the best decision for both of us.ā
With Jones embracing his next chapter in Jacksonville, where he is expected to back up Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars supporters are excited to see a new side of the fourth-year QB.
āIām happy to have Mac in jax. He seems to be happier,ā one fan wrote in the comments of the Jaguarsā TikTok video.
Another posted, āBro is so much more happier.ā
Jones will see some familiar Patriots faces this season when the Jaguars host New England.
