Lying Long Island Rep. George Santos has been hit with federal charges and could appear in Brooklyn federal court as soon as Wednesday, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/09/politics/george-santos-charged-justice-department/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">CNN reported</a>.

Santos, 34, who made national headlines late last year by confessing to a series of spectacular fabrications about his background and work experience, had been facing a federal probe in connection with fundraising for his successful 2022 House campaign.

The exact nature of the charges were not immediately clear.

The Brooklyn US Attorney’s office declined to comment when contacted by The Post Tuesday evening.
