NextImg:Luke Voit splits with Mets in search for MLB chance

The new-look Mets can’t use Luke Voit’s services, apparently.

After mashing in Triple-A Syracuse, Voit has been granted his release by the organization in hopes of catching on with a new team with a chance at a call-up, The Post’s Mike Puma confirms.

Voit hit .264 with 14 home runs and 35 RBIs in 37 games for the Syracuse Mets, typically operating as the muscle in the lineup behind top prospect Ronny Mauricio.

The ex-Yankee never played a game for the big-league Mets but his time with Syracuse is best known for his bizarre sleeveless jersey that he wore at the beginning of July when he belted a homer to left field.

“Who needs shirts?” Syracuse Mets announcer Michael Tricarico said. “When you have guns that good, you might as well show off.”

Voit, 32, likely is looking to hook up with a playoff contender as he looks to revitalize his career.

The Mets traded away aces Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander at the deadline, signaling a retreat from a last-ditch playoff push.

Voit led all of baseball with 22 home runs in a COVID shortened 2020 season with the Yankees in just 56 games.
