NextImg:Luisangel Acuña hits first two Mets homers after Max Scherzer trade

Luisangel Acuña knocked the cover off the ball on Wednesday night for his first home run as a member of the Mets organization — and then he did it again three innings later.

Acuna, who came over in the Max Scherzer trade deadline deal with the Rangers, ripped two solo shots three innings apart as the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies took on the Hartford Yard Goats at Dunkin’ Park.

It marked Acuña’s first-ever professional multi-homer game.

Acuña’s first blast of the night came in the first inning when he drove a 2-2 pitch from Yard Goats starter Mike Ruff 426 feet to left field, which just barely missed leaving the stadium.

The homer, which put Binghamton up 1-0, was the 21-year-old’s first since July 26, when he was still with the Frisco RoughRiders.

Acuña then went to the opposite in the top of the fourth to extend Binghamton’s lead to 8-0.

Between the homers, he also singled and stole a base.

Acuña was part of the incoming players during the Mets’ sell-off at the trade deadline that helped bolster the organization’s prospect pool while unloading some of its veteran stars.

Before Wednesday night’s game, Acuña was hitting .244.

He is the franchise’s top-ranked prospect on MLB.com and could reach the big leagues as soon as next year.

“He’s got a speed element to his game that’s very impressive to watch,” Binghamton manager Reid Brignac told The Post on Aug. 9.

The brother of Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr., Luisangel said he hopes to get to the same level of play as the All-Star outfielder.

“I want to get to that level, the one that my brother’s at, just because everything that he does is super impressive,” Acuña told The Post.

Acuña’s homers came on the same night that the man he was traded for was going up against former Mets teammate and current Astros hurler, Justin Verlander.

Through three innings, Scherzer has allowed seven runs on six hits, which included three homers.
