It’s been a celebratory week for LSU and its legion of fans.

Days before LSU defeated Florida in the Men’s College World Series in Omaha on Monday night, Tigers fans broke a Jell-O shot challenge record at a local Nebraska establishment.

LSU fan Todd Graves, who is the founder and CEO of Raising Cane’s chicken, purchased $30,000 worth of Jell-O shots — 6,000 to be exact — last Monday at Rocco’s Pizza and Cantina, which is located a short distance from Charles Schwab Field, the site of the series.

“I had to commercial fish in Alaska to start my first restaurant … You work hard and become successful and then you’re able to buy all these LSU fans a shot, it feels pretty cool,” Graves said, according to ESPN. “It’s a good way to celebrate with others.”

Rocco’s typically runs a tally of shots ordered by fans of the eight teams in the College World Series, which they post on a whiteboard inside the establishment.

It’s the fourth year they’ve run the competition.

Although LSU lost last Monday’s contest against Wake Forest after Graves’ boozy purchase, all was well worth it, as the Tigers clinched the championship title this Monday with an 18-4 thumping over the Gators.

Monday’s win marked LSU’s first College World Series title since 2009.

Shortly after LSU’s win, ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt joked about the Tigers’ celebrations ahead.

“Omaha, I don’t think the people in purple are just looking for Jell-O shots tonight. Batten down the hatches and buckle up. Whatever you’ve got behind the bar, it’ll all be gone soon enough,” he tweeted.

The Tigers won the 2023 challenge by a landslide with 68,888 Jell-O shots tallied in comparison to their MCWS competitors, well-surpassing Ole’ Miss’ record of 18,777 shots in 2022.

Rocco’s owner Kevin Culjat said that one dollar from each of the $5 Jell-O shots is set to be donated to the winner’s local food bank, as well as another 50 cents going to Omaha’s Heartland Food Bank.
