A 62-year-old woman in a leafy English village — described by neighbors as a “lovely lady” — turns out to have been a cocaine dealer, police said.

Julie Cobley of the village of Deanshanger, in Northamptonshire, was found to have $10,000 worth of coke hidden in her house after police raided it, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

The raid took place in July 2022 but details only recently emerged.

Cobley’s modus operandi had been to leave packets of cocaine by her garbage pails and in small bags taped to her mailbox, police said. Her clients left cash for her in return.

Most neighbors were surprised — though some thought Cobley’s regular stream of visitors odd.

“She was lovely, such a nice lady who would do anything for you,” a neighbor told the outlet. “She was the life and soul of the village, everyone knows her. So that is why it’s so shocking and surprising that she was dealing cocaine from her home.”

62-year-old Julie Cobley, who was well-liked by neighbors, turned out to be dealing cocaine from her leafy suburb in the UK, authorities said.

“There are families with young children in the street,” the neighbor added. “We would hear rumors but you kind of dismiss them as gossip but there was a constant stream of cars driving up to the property at all times of the day and night.”

At least one neighbor told authorities they had wondered about the frequent visitor who came to Cobley’s home at all hours, but never rang the bell or went into the house.

Cobley was busted after police received an anonymous tip.

Cobley was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, which was suspended for 12 months. She also received a small fine.

“Why she did it, I can’t say,” one neighbor said. “I don’t think she works so she must have been making a lot of money.’
