Love Is Blind alum Cameron Hamilon shared a rant on Instagram, saying it’s “inappropriate” to ask couples when they are going to have a baby.
Hamilton, who met his wife Lauren Speed in the first season of the reality hit, shared that he has been asked this question numerous times and wants his viewers to consider what a couple may be going through before prompting such invasive questions.
He said, “As a community, can we agree that it’s always inappropriate to ask couples when they’re going to have a baby? Because you don’t know what couples are going through at the end of the day.”
The Netflix star continued, “They may not be ready to have kids. They may be having difficulties conceiving. They may have other things going on in their lives that make it difficult to have a baby. So you really have no idea what’s going on in a couple’s life.”
Hamilton said that his statement applies to “couples everywhere,” not just his relationship. “Just be happy for couples and appreciate them for who they are,” he added.
In the caption of his video, he wrote, “I made this video not just for the thousands of times Lauren and I get pressured, but for all the couples who undergo this same scrutiny.”
Several followers thought Hamilton’s comments were directly at Love Is Blind co-host Vanessa Lachey who repeatedly asked former contestants about their baby-making plans during the latest reunion special, but the alum has squashed any rumors of a beef.
“This message was not aimed at a specific person – we’ve been asked this question by thousands of people over the last few years, and so have millions of other couples. My spirit was simply telling me to address it. My intent is to bring more compassion and understanding towards couples, even if the message only reaches a few,” he wrote in a comment.
Hamilton acknowledged that the line of questioning, in general, usually comes from “good intentions,” but that doesn’t excuse the consequences. “I don’t think there is generally malice behind the question. That still does not make this an appropriate question, however, as the act of asking it means the person is still not considering what the couple may be going through,” he expressed.
The reality star also shared that he and Speed want to have children, but it’s “all on God’s timing.” He said, “People continue to ask despite our candidness.”
Last week, it was rumored that Hamilton and Speed were set to replace Nick and Vanessa Lachey as co-hosts of the popular show. The following day, the speculation was denied in a report from Entertainment Tonight.
Hamilton’s followers are advocating to see more of the Love Is Blind success-couple in the comment section of his post and are shading Vanessa Lachey for her unfavored performance during the recent reunion. “Thank you for speaking about this! LIB seriously needs to reevaluate their content and hosts. The last reunion is especially very disturbing,” wrote one fan.
