The Long Island teen left clinging to life after a police cruiser struck him on its way to an emergency call has died — and his family said they plan to donate his organs so they can help other kids.

Anthony Stinson, 13, had been on life support since a cop car hit him as he pedaled across the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Adobe Drive in Shirley at about 7:50 p.m. Saturday, the Suffolk County Police Department has said.

After four days, Stinson’s family decided to pull the standout athlete off the ventilator that had been preserving his organs, according to Newsday.

Doctors from LiveOnNY, a Long Island City-based nonprofit that matches donors with those on the organ transplant list, performed the procedure on Wednesday, the outlet said.

“Children will get healthier and improve their living and life span, thanks to Anthony,” Claudia Stinson, Anthony’s heartbroken mother, told Newsday.

“I want this to be an inspiration for the community to think of in the event of the loss of lives,” she said.

“I told my son I was so proud of him and his legacy,” the grieving woman continued, as she wore her son’s Cincinnati Bengals football jersey and a necklace with the team’s logo that Anthony had on the night he was hit.

“I said, ‘Anthony, I’m so proud of you helping other kids, your legacy is leaving this earth. I have to let you go free, go fly and watch over all your friends.”

The eighth-grader at William Paca Middle School suffered a severe head injury during the accident, which doctors said left him braindead.

The driver, a Seventh Precinct patrol officer, was heading south on William Floyd Parkway with her lights and sirens blaring when she hit the teen, authorities said.

The cop also hit a car stopped in traffic, a tree and two parked cars on Margin Drive West – in an apparent attempt to swerve and avoid the young bicyclist, according to police and a WCBS report.

Authorities say the cop had a green light and was responding to a 911 call about an elderly woman in medical distress when the crash happened.

On Thursday, the New York Attorney General Letitia James’ Office said it would investigate the accident.

But it did not give a reason why, aside from noting that the AG can look into “every incident reported to it where a police officer or a peace officer, including a corrections officer, may have caused the death of a person by an act or omission,” according to a statement.

Stinson’s mom, Claudia, told WCBS that she heard the crash from her house. She ran outside and rushed to the intersection, where she found her son gravely injured.

He’d just celebrated his 13th birthday the week before, the distraught mom said.

Authorities took him to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.

The officer — who has not been identified — went to the same hospital. She was treated for minor injuries and released.

Dozens of friends, family and former teammates from the soccer clubs Anthony played on lined the hospital hallways Wednesday night as the teen’s body was wheeled to the operating room for the organ harvesting procedure.

They called it an “honor walk.”

“Seeing him for the last time, I didn’t expect it and knowing he’s not going to come back,” Randy Guevara, 12, of Bay Shore, told Newsday.

Guevara had come with his grandma, and wore a soccer jersey with “Anthony” written across the front.

“Nobody was expecting it to happen and I didn’t get to say goodbye for the last time,” he told the outlet.

But there was a silver lining in all the misery — Anthony’s organs will help other kids survive when they might not otherwise.

“It’s literally that honorable moment of life that he’s giving to other people right now,” Leonard Achan, president and CEO of LiveOnNY, told Newsday.

“It is a very solemn, Old World honor that is happening in a modern day state,” he added. “This is a tragic story and an unbelievable decision to give back the gift of life.”

That won’t stop the tears that pour from his family and friends.

But Claudia Stinson — who sat by her son day and night as he lay in a hospital bed — said she had one last message before she let go.

“I said, ‘You’re a wonderful boy and you’ve got to go fly to help other kids,” she told Newsday. “Some of you is staying here and I’m so proud of you. This is the end of a journey for Anthony and the beginning of a new one for others.”
