Mexico City did a number on the Giants.
San Francisco returned to the states winless in MLB’s first-ever regular-season series in CDMX, losing both contests to the San Diego Padres.
But a pair of losses wasn’t all they came home with.
“I think three-quarters of our clubhouse has the s–ts,” Giants starting pitcher Logan Webb said during postgame availability Wednesday afternoon, per NBC Sports Bay Area.
Webb called the Mexico City trip “a mental and physical grind,” a sentiment his teammate Joc Pederson echoed.
“Hands down, it’s the hardest trip I’ve done in the big leagues,” Pederson said Sunday.
Webb didn’t go into details about what may have caused the team-wide stomach bug, but one can presume that it’s a case of Traveler’s Diarrhea.
The Giants have since recovered — at least on the field.
San Francisco won two out of three games against the reigning World Series champion Astros in Houston this week and will get a much-needed day off on Thursday before starting a six-game homestand on Friday that will see them play the Brewers and Padres.
“It’ll be good to get back home for sure,” Webb added. “Hopefully the s–ts go away. It’ll be better in a couple of days. [I’m] happy we were able to come out of this with the last two wins.”
The Giants are currently 13-17 and five games behind the first-place Dodgers.
