Liz Cheney‘s highly anticipated appearance on The View is finally here. The former congresswoman joined the Hot Topics table today for a lengthy chat about politics and the future of the country, but she stopped short of backing anyone in the 2024 presidential race.

Joy Behar asked Cheney — a lifelong republican who has emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of former president Donald Trump in recent years — what she would do if the election came down to another Trump vs. President Joe Biden rematch this November.

Turning to her guest and placing her hand on her arm, Behar told Cheney, “Let me ask you a radical question.”

Cheney quipped, “Uh-oh,” as Behar continued, “I know you’re a patriotic American and you will vote. If it came down to Biden v. Trump, would you vote for Biden?”

The Wyoming politician demurred, replying, “I’m not going to endorse anybody today.”

Still, she offered a bit of insight into her 2024 voting plans, saying, “I think that, again, we don’t know exactly what the choice will be,” before adding, “I would say that I will never vote for Donald Trump,” which earned her a hearty round of applause from the studio audience.

While Cheney stopped short of putting her support behind Biden, it does sound like she could vote Democrat if she was faced with a Trump ticket in 2024. Cheney even hinted at as much in the second half of her answer, when she told The View that the risks she sees posed by Biden are far smaller than those that could come with a second Trump term.

“There are some conservatives who are trying to make this claim that somehow Biden is a bigger risk than Trump,” Cheney continued. “My view is, I disagree with a lot of Joe Biden’s policies. We can survive bad policies. We cannot survive torching the Constitution. It’s not even the same level.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
