Mark Consuelos may have been busy bagging groceries when he was younger — but, according to the hunky host, plenty of shoppers were looking to bag him.
On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos and the show’s announcer Déjà Vu Parker, who was filling in for Kelly Ripa, bonded over their shared experience of working at Florida grocery stores in their younger years. While Parker worked the cash register at a Winn-Dixie, the Riverdale alum was a bagger at Publix.
“I was at Publix — where shopping is a pleasure,” he cheekily said. “I like Winn-Dixie but Publix — the air conditioning in Publix. The air conditioning in June in Florida — it’s like an icebox. I was a bagger. I was a good bagger.”
The co-host proceeded to demonstrate his exceptional bagging skills, before telling the audience he had to wear “a nice little tie” with an “apron” as his uniform. Hubba, hubba!
“We’d drive out and I’d push the lady’s [cart] to her car and then I’d put it in the back of the seat. And a few times they asked me if I’d like to come home and … unload the groceries,” he seductively said.
When Parker asked how the tips were at Publix, Consuelos playfully quipped, “Well, if I unloaded the groceries, they were really good.”
Something tells us we’re not talking about groceries anymore…
Before things got out of hand, the actor clarified that he “never went home with anybody.”
However, he did reveal later on in the segment that he was approached by a manager to enter the management program at the chain store. He added that he would’ve been “a good regional [or] local” manager in “a different life.”
“And what turned it all for you?” Parker asked, to which Consuelos replied, “I don’t know. I went to college and I met a blonde girl. The one with the dimple,” before joking, “Every time I walk through those hallowed hallways of Publix, I say, ‘What could’ve been.’”
