Mark Consuelos may be a ripped actor and talk show host who’s appeared on everything from soap operas to daytime TV to teen dramas — but at heart, he’s really just a dad who ends up snoring long before the end credits of a movie begin.
On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos revealed that he woke up at 10:30 p.m. last night to find that Kelly Ripa had turned off all the lights and the TV. Their early night prompted Ripa to dish on the quickest way to get her husband, who wakes up for 4 a.m. workouts, to go to sleep earlier than his usual bedtime.
“The key to getting Mark to bed early — earlier than his 8 p.m. sleep or his 9 p.m. sleep — is to put on a documentary that he’s been dying to watch all week,” she said.
Ripa told Consuelos that she finished the unnamed documentary during his slumber, before concluding that he would not be able to make it through Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer, which is a whopping three hours long.
“You cannot watch Oppenheimer, that’s all I know. It will take you eight times to get through Oppenheimer,” she said, to which Consuelos confessed, “It will. They’ll make a lot of money off me.”
While it may take Consuelos a couple of trips to the movie theater to watch the full flick, he pointed out that both Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie pulled in “huge” numbers at the domestic box office during their dual opening weekend. According to the stats he read off, Barbie nabbed the top spot with $155 million at the domestic box office, while Oppenheimer raked in $80.5 million.
“Oppenheimer did well. It was supposed to do well,” Consuelos said. “They’re saying that a lot of people went to go see Barbie and it was sold out so they had overflow [and] they went to see Oppenheimer. So it’s a win-win.”
Meanwhile, Ripa continued to sport her pink in honor of Gerwig’s film.
“I’ve been in my Barbie tribute attire the past couple of weeks,” she explained. “Before the actor’s strike, we had the whole cast on so I had all these outfits lined up. I was like, ‘I might as well maximize my look.'”
