Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are full-on empty nesters these days — and just because one of their kids comes home from college, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll stop watching their “adult shows.”
During today’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the duo revealed they recently spent three hours binging Dave — a comedy created by rapper Dave Burd, a.k.a Lil Dicky, featuring a fictionalized version of himself as he tries to break into the world of hip hop.
Despite praising the show as “fascinating” and “deep,” Ripa and Consuelos advised against watching it with your children — something they learned when their 20-year-old son visited from college.
“Joaquin Consuelos came in to see, [he said], ‘What you guys are watching?'” Consuelos said. “We thought we’d be cool. We’re watching a show about hip hop, Joaquin. He’s 20. Come sit down and watch this with us. And he got a little uncomfortable.”
Ripa noted that it’s “not a show adult children should watch with their parents,” while Consuelos recalled his son scampering off “like a deer” when it came to some of the NSFW content.
“That was the greatest part of the whole thing. We repelled him right out of the room,” Ripa added. ” He’s not home often but when he does come home from Michigan, he comes in and takes over and we are held hostage by his viewing habits or what he wants to watch or where he wants to go or what he wants to do.”
She continued, “Because he utilizes the old, ‘I’m only here for two weeks.’ And so we yield.”
However, this time Consuelos said they “didn’t relent” when it came to watching the Hulu show — something his wife went on to echo.
“We were like, ‘This is what we’re watching. We’re watching this inappropriate content. OK? So get out.’ While we had our yogurt and berries in bed,” Ripa joked. “It was a very ridiculous night. But fun.”
Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays at 9/8c on ABC.
