NextImg:‘Live’: Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Talk About The Awkwardness Of Boarding A Plane: “How Many Strangers’ Crotches Have You Had In Your Face?”

More On:

Kelly Ripa

On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos had their heads in the clouds. The pair debated some precarious plane boarding predicaments, with Consuelos wondering if his wife prefers to board first or last.

“Does it matter to you?” he asked.

While he and his wife hold opposing opinions — he prefers to board first, while Ripa wants to be the last one on the plane — they ultimately took off into a discussion of airport travel troubles.

“I was scarred because once I got on and I didn’t have room for my carry-on,” Consuelos explained. “I carry on, I don’t check. Really, it scarred me.”

Ripa quipped, “Do you want to talk about being scarred? Try taking a two-week vacation with Mark and him telling you that you can only bring one carry-on.”

This spat served as a seamless segue to the news that United Airlines has introduced a new boarding procedure, granting passengers in window seats the chance to board the plane first.

“A win for window seats,” Consuelos reiterated, noting that “you don’t have to climb over people that way.”

Ripa then said, “Show of hands: How many strangers’ crotches have you had in your face?”

As the audience roared in laughter, Live‘s EP Michael Gelman chimed in from offstage about facing “the other direction.”

“The other direction is also a horror show,” Ripa replied. “It’s an embarrassment of terrible situations!”

However, for Consuelos, the plane practice that truly doesn’t fly with him is “when the whole plane is inside the plane waiting for that one person to just do all their stuff,” referring to a passenger that is taking forever to assemble all of their belongings and deplane.

But don’t get him started on passengers who are “beeping” as they go in unprepared for their TSA security check.

“Dude! Take your phone out of your pocket! And your wallet!” Consuelos ranted. “You didn’t know this was about to happen?”
