On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, co-hosts Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa continued to ring in the New Year by discussing the emerging trend of personalized men’s wedding bands.
“Hobbits and Jack Daniels — can wedding rings become manlier?” Consuelos read aloud.
He then clarified that he’s “from the era where you got a simple band,” which he prefers.
“But guys now are saying that no, they want to embellish a little bit,” he added, citing the example of getting their “favorite superhero” on their jewelry.
Ripa didn’t look too keen on the idea, as Consuelos continued, “You’re telling your wife that she’s marrying a child,” to which Ripa replied, “You took the words right out of my mouth.”
While Consuelos urged men to “just go with the single band,” Ripa suggested that those interested can “also just have a cartoon character etched on the inside of the ring.”
“Wile E. Coyote chasing the Road Runner, or whatever,” she added.

Consuelos said his cartoon character of choice would be “Mighty Mouse,” before thinking a bit more and ultimately settling on “Speedy Gonzales.”
Ripa noted that she personally likes “men wearing a statement ring” — which Consuelos noted that one of their friends does — deeming it “very chic.”
“But he’s not wearing superheroes,” she quipped. “He’s not wearing a Ring Pop, he’s not wearing a secret decoder ring. He’s wearing, like, a diamond ring.”
Consuelos ultimately concluded, “If it makes you happy, go for it,” which earned him a round of applause from the audience.
